For my capstone project at CSUCI I worked on organizing and compiling the existing pollinator surveys preformed at Satwiwa for the past 5 years.
Another larger aspect of my project is to answer my individual research question: "Do species compositions change in regard to restored sites versus native sites of Satwiwa?"
In this project I will preform transects in various areas at Satwiwa of pollinators in the fall of 2024 and I compiled my findings for a final thesis and poster for the Spring of 2025 at the annual Celebration of Science and Service (COSAS) event.
Shown above is the final poster presented at COSAS. It not only describes the importance of pollinators for humans, but also my research question: Do species compositions change in regard to restored sites versus native sites of Satwiwa? Ultimately it was found that seasonilty does affect pollinator composition, where you'll see more types of pollinators in the spring versus the fall. However, it was also found that other factors such as weather, wind, plants in the habitat and when they bloom, and time of day all play a role in pollinator composition.
